A Taliban commander has come live on Afghanistan’s government TV and issued an intimidating threat to Pakistan. He said that if Pakistan is proud of its ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons, then the Taliban has a ‘battalion of suicide bombers’ ready to fight. These words of the commander are increasing further tension in the already fragile relations between Kabul and Islamabad.
In his televised speech, the commander claimed that his group had a special force of suicide bombers that could take on ‘the entire non-Muslim world’. He also said that terrorist organizations operating inside Pakistan are also capable of carrying out attacks. He named the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) which are present within Pakistan.

Pakistan, a nuclear power, has long accused the TTP of carrying out cross-border attacks from Afghan soil. At the same time, the Taliban government has repeatedly refused to provide shelter to anti-Pakistan terrorists.
Pakistan bombed Kabul, declared ‘open war’ with Taliban government of Afghanistan
On Friday, Pakistan bombed major cities of Afghanistan including the capital Kabul. After this, the Defense Minister of Islamabad declared ‘open war’ between the two neighbours. This comes after months of retaliatory clashes. This latest action by Pakistan came after the attack on Pakistani border troops by the Afghan Army on Thursday night. The attack was in response to an earlier air strike by Islamabad. Relations between the two neighbors have deteriorated in recent months. Land borders have been largely closed since deadly fighting in October. More than 70 people from both sides were killed in that battle. Islamabad accuses Afghanistan of failing to take action against terrorist groups that carry out attacks in Pakistan. The Taliban government denies these allegations.
