How to purify the temple?

  • As soon as the eclipse ends, first of all all the members of the house should take bath. Taking bath with water mixed with Ganga water is considered auspicious.
  • Clean the temple i.e. wipe the house temple with a clean cloth.
  • Sprinkle Ganga water in the entire temple and house.
  • If possible, reinstall the idols by bathing them in Ganga water or pure water.
  • Offer fresh flowers, new clothes and fresh offerings to God.
  • Chanting aarti and mantra after purification is considered auspicious.

How to purify the kitchen?

  • Food prepared or kept during the eclipse should not be eaten.
  • Wash the stove, gas stove, utensils etc. thoroughly.
  • After the eclipse, fresh and wholesome food should be prepared.
  • It is believed that adding basil leaves to food before eclipse reduces its effect.

Whole House Purification

  • Sprinkle Ganga water or cow urine in the house.
  • Wiping the floor with water mixed with salt is also considered auspicious.
  • Purify the environment by lighting havan or incense sticks.

What to do after the eclipse?

  • Doing charity, especially donating food, clothes or money and feeding the poor is considered auspicious.

  • Do not worship after the eclipse without taking bath.
