New Delhi: Aiden Markram played a captain’s knock as unbeaten South Africa crushed the West Indies by 9 wickets in a Super Eight clash of the T20 World Cup 2026 on Thursday. With this dominating win, the Proteas have put one foot in semifinals and also boosted chances for defending champions India in the marquee event.
After Romario Shepherd and Jason Holder rescued West Indies to lift the side to 176/8 in the stipulated 20 overs, Markram led from the front with an unbeaten 82-run knock to help the side complete the chase in just 16.1 overs.
Other than the captain’s knock, Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton also contributed with blistering knocks of 47 and 45 not out to help the side complete a big victory. Roston Chase was the lone wicket-taker for the West Indies.
