New Delhi: Auqib Nabi proved to be the star of the show as Jammu and Kashmir enjoyed another eventful day against Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy final. J&K’s lower order added 57 runs to their overnight score in the morning session before getting bowled out for a mammoth 584 in their first innings on the third day.
Nabi emerged as the pick of the bowlers as he started off brilliantly with the new ball and troubled the Karnataka batters with their inswingers and outswingers. He ended with figures of 3/32 in 14 overs as Karnataka were 220/5 at day end, training J&K by 364 more runs. Mayank Agarwal was on the crease unbeaten on 130 runs while Kruthik Krishna was on the other end on 27 runs.
Nabi ends with brilliant spell
Meanwhile the experienced KL Rahul was Nabi’s first scalp before he got rid of Karun Nair and Smaran Ravichandran off successive deliveries to push the Karnataka side towards the wall. When they were at 57/4, Mayank batted with a lot of composure, with Shreyas Gopal giving him good support as the duo added 105 runs to bail out the side from a tough situation.
