New Delhi: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu got a compliment from Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he surprised him by donning an Indian outfit for his dinner meeting on Wednesday evening in Tel Aviv.
Sharing a video before the dinner, Netanyahu wrote on X, “Before our joint dinner, I surprised my friend Prime Minister Modi by wearing traditional Indian attire.”
Responding to his post, PM Modi said that his Israeli counterpart’s love for Indian attire shows his respect for the culture and traditions of India.
“Truly splendid! Your fondness for Indian attire reflects your respect for the rich culture and traditions of our country,” PM Modi wrote.

The video shared by Netanyahu shows him wearing a stone-coloured Nehru jacket, also popularly known as a Modi jacket, with a band collar and a tailored fit. The clip shows Prime Minister Modi shaking hands with Netanyahu and both leaders smiling while posing for the camera.
PM Modi arrived in Tel Aviv on Wednesday for a high-profile visit. He was received by the Israeli PM and his wife, Sara Netanyahu. During his visit, PM Modi addressed Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, becoming the first Indian PM to do so. During the address, he reaffirmed that India stands with Israel in its battle against terror. Today, he is scheduled to hold delegation-level talks with his Israeli counterpart, besides meeting Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
