CM Yogi Adityanath took the craftsmanship of UP on the global stage by gifting more than 500 traditional artefacts under the ODOP scheme during his Singapore-Japan tour. This will provide new identity and export opportunities to the artisans in the international market.

Lucknow/Singapore. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s visit to Singapore and Japan created a new identity at all three levels – investment, industrial partnership and cultural diplomacy. While on one hand the doors of new opportunities opened in the field of investment and industry, on the other hand CM Yogi was also seen as the biggest brand ambassador of ‘One District-One Product’ (ODOP) scheme.

Presenting the traditional crafts of UP on the global stage, he presented more than 500 special artefacts to prominent politicians, corporate leaders and children of Singapore and Japan. Through these gifts, an effort was made to give international recognition to the talent of the artisans of the state.

ODOP Gifts Global Promotion: Display of UP’s art in Singapore and Japan

CM Yogi presented special artefacts prepared under the ‘One District-One Product’ (ODOP) scheme to the foreign guests. These gifts especially attracted the attention of the people there. Gifts created especially for children included artworks made of mandala art. When more than 300 children were given these gifts, they looked very excited. Foreign guests were also amazed to see the detail and beauty of the handmade artefacts.

Banarasi Meenakari & Firozabad Glass Art: Traditional craft wins hearts

During this time, the pink Meenakari of Banaras attracted everyone’s special attention. The statues of Lord Shri Ram, Shiva, Radha-Krishna and Buddha made of colored glass from Firozabad continued to mesmerize the people. The gifts given by the Chief Minister included-

  • Glass Statues of Firozabad (Ram, Shiva, Radha-Krishna, Buddha)
  • Brass Statues of Moradabad (Shiva and Buddha)
  • Buddha made of Varanasi enamel, peacock and model of Kashi Vishwanath temple made of pink enamel
  • Statues of Shiva and Radha-Krishna made of wood from Saharanpur

All these products showcased the rich art tradition of Uttar Pradesh on the world stage.

This offering tradition strengthens the spirit of ‘Self-reliant India’ and ‘Vocal for Local’. Mandala art and other traditional products became an emotional medium of cultural exchange. With this initiative, the artisans and craftsmen of Uttar Pradesh will get a new identity in the global market. The brand value of these products will increase through international exhibitions and gifts and new export opportunities will open up. This will also provide a strong foundation to the livelihood of lakhs of artisan families.
