Tiruppur Suicide: What Really Led Rithanya To End Her Life?

In a heartbreaking incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, 27-year-old Rithanya died by suicide on June 28, 2025. Before her death, she sent seven distressing voice notes to her father, detailing relentless harassment and expressing profound despair.

Her Final Voice Not To Father

“I am sorry, Dad. I don’t want anybody to save me this time,” she stated in one of her final messages. “All this while, I hoped that my life would change. I’ve now realized that it won’t.”

Initial reports suggest dowry abuse as a primary factor, but a shocking detail has emerged: Rithanya’s parents are also facing scrutiny for allegedly failing to support her during her ordeal.

Rithanya married Kavin on April 11, 2025. Her parents reportedly provided a substantial dowry, including 300 sovereigns of gold jewellery and a Volvo car valued at ₹70 lakh. According to Rithanya’s father, Annadurai, the first two weeks of the marriage were peaceful, but issues began in the third week. This led to Annadurai and Rithanya’s mother intervening and bringing Rithanya back to their home.

Kavin continued to visit Rithanya, and after 20 days, he took her back to their marital home. However, on June 22, when Kavin again brought Rithanya to her parents’ house, she appeared visibly sad and depressed.

She reportedly told her parents, “There is no fight between us, and I want to stay at my parents’ house.” Earlier, on the tenth day of her marriage, Rithanya had confided, “She is being bullied at home, I can’t be there.” Despite her pleas, her parents reportedly urged her to be patient, stating, “It will all get better.” They were concerned about societal judgment from villagers and relatives if their daughter returned home permanently, which some believe left Rithanya feeling isolated and unsupported.

Authorities believe Rithanya tragically ended her life by consuming pesticide, typically used for coconut trees, in the Chettiputhur area while in her car. In her final, tearful WhatsApp audio messages to her father, Rithanya explicitly stated that her husband, father-in-law, and mother-in-law were responsible for her death, accusing the groom’s family of both mental and physical abuse.
