Hyderabad (Telangana) [भारत]July 16 (ANI): A school management in Hyderabad’s Sayeedabad has terminated the services of a teacher following a controversy over allegedly giving religious homework to Class 2 students. He has also been permanently banned from future employment in the group’s institutions.
The action was taken after a formal complaint was lodged at the Sayeedabad police station by the parents of a student and local BJP leaders. He had alleged that the teacher had given homework of religious nature. In an official termination order dated July 15, the school management said her services as ‘Mother Teacher’ at the Sayeedabad branch are being terminated with effect from July 16. “You are further informed that you are permanently ineligible to apply for employment in the Success Group of Education Institutions in future,” the order read. It was signed by the principal.
Uproar and protest outside the school
Protests took place outside the school premises on Wednesday over the issue, following which Hyderabad Police intervened to maintain law and order and detained several BJP workers and parents participating in the protest. The protesters raised slogans against the school management, demanding immediate action against the institute. The protesters demanded, “De-recognize this school immediately! Shut it down! Arrest the principal! All teachers involved should be immediately suspended.”
BJP leaders made serious allegations
BJP leader Andela Sriramulu Yadav, who was detained by the police during the protest, made allegations regarding the syllabus being adopted in the school. Police detained Yadav and other BJP workers when they were protesting outside the institute in Sayeedabad. Yadav said, “How can they teach Kalma here? We saw in Jammu and Kashmir how people were murdered for not reciting Kalma. Look how the child is telling what happened in school!”
He further claimed, “Asaduddin and Akbaruddin Owaisi (AIMIM leaders) are behind this. They are trying to spoil the atmosphere of Bhagyanagar.”
Meanwhile, the police also detained BJP leader and lawyer Karuna Sagar, who had reached the school premises over the issue of alleged religious homework given to Class 2 students. Questioning the police action, Karuna Sagar said, “I have come here to ask the police why the FIR has not been registered yet. My demand is to arrest the principal who is forcing innocent students to read the Quran.”
The controversy has led to protesters demanding further action against the school management and those allegedly involved. Police have not yet issued any detailed statement regarding further investigation or legal proceedings in the case. (ANI)
