Islamabad: A YouTuber has been arrested in Pakistan for allegedly filming the security convoy that was taking former Prime Minister Imran Khan to a hospital. He was being taken for eye treatment when the YouTuber filmed the video.
Imran Khan is currently lodged in Adiala Jail
It may be noted that the cricketer-turned politician has been lodged in Adiala Jail since 2023. On Tuesday, he was being taken to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for another dose of anti-VEGF intravitreal injection. He was recently diagnosed with right central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO), which troubling affecting his vision.
“YouTuber Haider Saeed, who has an affiliation with Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, has been arrested for filming the security convoy that was taking Khan to the hospital on Tuesday for his eye treatment,” news agency PTI quoted a senior officer of Punjab Police as saying.
The police further said that the suspect not only filmed the security convoy but also uploaded the same on social media. The development caused a security risk for Khan. “The suspect has been shifted to the Adiala police post and a case registered against him,” it added.
Must be given immediate access to doctors: Imran Khan’s sister
Meanwhile, Khan’s s sister Aleema Khan said on Wednesday that her brother unable to see properly and must be given immediate access to doctors. “We do not trust the diagnosis or test reports from government medical facilities. When the law requires that the family be informed before any medical procedure is conducted on a prisoner, why was the family not informed?” she had earlier said.
She added, “Our family rejects their reports, even if they issue these doctored reports to the public. We stand by our demand that Imran Khan be examined and treated in Shifa International by specialists, under the supervision of Imran Khan’s personal doctors and in the presence of his family.”
