Yellow alert of storm and lightning continues

On Monday, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of thunderstorms and lightning in Himachal Pradesh. This time the state has suffered the most loss in the monsoon. From June 20 to September 7, heavy rains, cloudburst and landslides have been damaged by about Rs 4,080 crore. So far 366 people have died. Currently, 826 roads are closed in the state, including national highways like NH-3 and NH-305.

Things worsened due to severe floods in Punjab

The situation is bad due to severe floods in Punjab. There was rain in some parts on Sunday, but was slightly lower than the previous days. Hundreds of villages were submerged here due to the floods of Sutlej, Vyas and Ravi rivers and floods of seasonal drains. So far, 48 people have died and 1.76 lakh hectares of crops have been destroyed. Education Minister Harjot Bains said that all schools, colleges and universities of the state will open again from September 8.

Many areas are completely cut, roads are closed and power-water supply is stalled. NDRF and administration teams are engaged in relief work. Prime Minister Narendra Modi may soon visit the state.
