This is a technique with the help of which a new plant is prepared by joining parts of two different plants together. The rootstock is the lower part, which has roots. Whereas the upper part is called Sion, which in common language is called a twig or bud, which bears good fruits. When these two parts are combined properly they give bumper yields.

- Select the rootstock and scion of a healthy and green plant for grafting. If you take a plant with weak roots then the fruits of your hard work will be negligible.
- The thickness of the plants that are being joined together and being prepared for grafting should be approximately equal.
- Do grafting only in mild cool weather
- Use a clean and sharp blade to make cuts
- The cut should always be straight and smooth, so that the part you are attached to
- After making the cut, tie the graft tape and polythene strip tightly, so that air does not enter.
- Keep the grafted plant in shade and keep the soil light
- If new shoots start appearing in 10-15 days then grafting is successful.
