A Pakistani supporter was involved in a heated physical altercation with an England fan in the stands during the game.

Harry Brook slammed a classy ton as England defeated Pakistan by two wickets in a thriller to become the first team to qualify for the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2026. It was England’s second straight victory in the Super Eight stage after they thrashed Sri Lanka in their opening game last week.

Brook played a captain’s knock and led from the front to take England home after a top-order collapse. Chasing a tricky target of 165 runs on a tacky wicket, England were 58/4 at one stage, however, Brook’s sensational 51-ball 100 helped them survive an early scare to beat Pakistan with five balls to spare.

England become 1st team to qualify for semifinals

Brook became the first captain to score a century in T20 World Cup history as his one-man show in Pallekele helped England edge Pakistan to qualify for the semifinals. England became the first team to enter the semifinals of the tournament with two wins in a row, having beaten Sri Lanka in their Super Eight opener.

It was a terrific knock from the England skipper under pressure. Brook’s 51-ball ton was laced with 10 fours and four sixes as he made a mockery of the Pakistani bowling attack. Brook received great support from Will Jacks in the lower middle order. Jacks scored 28 off 23 balls and shared a match-winning stand of 52 runs for the sixth wicket to take England closer to victory.

Despite late hiccups, England held their nerves to seal a victory with five balls to spare. While England secured a spot in the semifinals, Pakistan’s defeat pushed them on the verge of an exit from the Super Eight stage.
