Private sector IDFC First Bank on Tuesday said that it has deposited the entire amount including principal and interest, which is a total of Rs 583 crore, in the accounts of the concerned departments of the Haryana government. In the information given to the stock exchange, the bank said that despite the ongoing investigation of the matter, the bank has paid the entire amount of principal and interest claimed by the concerned departments of the Haryana Government, which is a net amount of Rs 583 crore. The bank said it will take action against those involved in this fraud in collaboration with law-enforcement agencies and state government departments and will strive to recover its liabilities.
CM gave information in the assembly
The bank had on Sunday revealed a fraud of Rs 590 crore in some accounts linked to the Haryana government in a branch in Chandigarh. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said in the Assembly on this matter that the state government has recovered an amount of about Rs 556 crore in the IDFC First Bank case. The Chief Minister said that about Rs 556 crore, including interest of about Rs 22 crore, was returned within 24 hours. He clarified in the House that the entire amount related to the departments of Haryana Government has been deposited again in the accounts and this recovery has been done within 24 hours.
collusion of employees came to light
According to the Chief Minister, the bank has informed the government that the matter is related to a branch in Chandigarh, in which the collusion of four-five middle and lower level bank employees has come to light. He said that no person involved in this case will be spared, whether they are bank employees, private individuals or government employees. IDFC First Bank had earlier said that the fraud was limited to limited accounts linked to the Haryana government and had no impact on other customers of the Chandigarh branch. After the matter came to light, the Haryana government has decided to remove AU Small Finance Bank along with IDFC First Bank from the list of government business.
