New Delhi: The motive behind the killing of the 50-year-old businessman in Lucknow who was murdered by his 21-year old son is more complex than what appeared to be the case. Initially, the son said he committed the murder, then cut the body and dumped the parts into a drum after being repeatedly forced to study for the NEET competitive exam. However, when further investigation and interrogation was done, a family dispute angle has come to light. It suggests the son was eyeing his father’s business empire.
On the one hand, the father was a successful businessman who was the owner of four pathology labs and three liquor shops. On the other hand was the son whose family aspired that he become a doctor but thought of taking over the family business. This heated argument resulted in the night that broke the whole family.
Manvendra Singh belonged to Jalaun district. He established his business in Lucknow. The family was quite wealthy. They had a network of pathology labs and licensed liquor shops.
Clash over future plans
After his wife passed away, Manvendra’s world revolved around his son Akshat and daughter Kriti. According to the family members, Manvendra’s biggest desire was for this son to become a doctor. Akshat completed Class 12 from the renowned La Martiniere School, following which he joined a coaching institute to prepare for NEET. He gave two attempts but to no avail. According to close sources, this was when tensions between the father and son started.
Probe has shown that Akshat was inclined towards the family business. He was interested in the pathology labs and shops. Speaking anonymously, a family member claimed Akshat thought the business was already established and that it would take years to become a doctor. He wanted to take charge immediately.
However, Manvendra thought that professional credentials were more important while business can continue. This disagreement eventually escalated to heated arguments.
Fatal dispute and body disposal
The police said an argument took place early on February 20 about studies and future plans. During the dispute, Akshat allegedly shot his father in the head with a licensed rifle. The incident happened on the third floor. His younger sister heard the gunshot. Police said Akshat threatened her and she remained silent out of fear.
Akshat tried to dispose of the body. He bought a saw, cut the body and dumped some parts near Sadrauna. He stored the torso in a drum at home. Police also recovered acid from the house. The head remains missing.
DCP Vikrant Veer said a missing complaint was filed on February 21. Forensic teams found bloodstains and cleaning marks. Chemical tests confirmed the presence of blood in the house and car.
Police continue investigation into all angles, including business motives and family disputes.
