Telangana weather update: Rain brings relief from rising temperatures

Hyderabad: Unseasonal rain and scattered intense thunderstorms on Monday brought the rising temperatures down and much needed relief for the people.

Intense thunderstorms lashed Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Siddipet, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Komarambheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Jagitial districts.

Rain lashed parts of Hyderabad on Monday evening and Tuesday morning while heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds lashed several mandals in Jagtial. Trees were uprooted in some villages in Nirmal district. Mango and maize crops were damaged due to heavy gusty winds.

In Mahabubnagar, an insulator was damaged due to the heavy rain and gusty winds, leading to disruption in power supply in 33 KV Bhutpur feeder. TGSPDCL staff immediately replaced the insulator and restored power.

Nalgonda receives 70 mm rainfall:

According to Telangana Development Planning Society data, Nalgonda received the highest amount of rain (70 mm) followed by Abdullapurmet in Rangareddy, which received 56.5 mm rainfall. Bahadurpura and Rajendranagar in Hyderabad witnessed 42.8 mm and 38.2 mm rainfall over the last 24 hours.

The Meteorological Department has warned that light to moderate rain and thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speed less than 40 kmph is likely to occur in Jogulamba Gadwal, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Narayanpet, Rangareddy, Suryapet, Wanaparthy districts over the next 2-3 hours.

Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31 and 21 degrees Celsius respectively. Surface winds are likely to be south-easterlies with windspeed of 4-6 kmph.
