T20 World Cup 2026 Schedule: Big change in the schedule between T20 World Cup 2026, now ICC has taken this decision on the semi-final match.

T20 World Cup 2026 New Schedule: Currently, Super-8 round matches are being played in the T20 World Cup 2026. After this there will be knockout matches, which include 2 semi-finals and a final match. ICC has taken a big decision regarding these big matches, due to which there may be a big change in the schedule of the tournament. However, this change also depends on which teams will qualify for the semi-finals and who will face each other.

Big change in the schedule of T20 World Cup 2026

The International Cricket Council has recently issued guidelines regarding the venue of the semi-finals, in which Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium has been given an important role. Under which Sri Lanka may get a chance to play the semi-finals on home ground. This tournament is being hosted by India and Sri Lanka. A hybrid model has been adopted for the semi-finals, where apart from Kolkata or Mumbai in India, the matches can also be held in Colombo in Sri Lanka. Especially the status of the first semi-final is ‘floating’, that is, it will be played in either Colombo or Kolkata.

According to the ICC, if Pakistan reaches the semi-finals, it will play its match on March 4 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. But if Pakistan does not make it to the semi-finals and Sri Lanka qualifies, then Sri Lanka can play its semi-final in Colombo against any team other than India. Before the tournament, ICC had announced that Sri Lanka was given priority for Pakistan’s semi-finals and final, but now the possibility of Sri Lanka’s home semi-finals has also been added. According to the old schedule, Sri Lanka had to play the semi-finals in India itself. But now ICC has made it clear that if Pakistan is out, it will play at home only.

Will Team India play semi-finals in Colombo?

If India reaches the semi-finals, they will usually play the other semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. But if they face Pakistan then the semi-finals may be shifted to Colombo. At the same time, if both Pakistan and Sri Lanka do not reach the semi-finals, then the first semi-final will be held in Eden Gardens, Kolkata and the second in Mumbai.
