Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, while giving a statement on “Farmers Welfare Year 2026” in the Assembly session on Monday, said that empowerment of farmers is the strong foundation for the all-round development of the state. With this in mind, the state government has decided to celebrate the year 2026 as “Farmers Welfare Year”.

The Chief Minister clarified that the aim of the government is to make farmers not only ‘food givers’ but also ‘energy givers’ and ‘entrepreneurs’. Only when the farmers will be prosperous, the goal of “prosperous farmers-prosperous state” will be achieved. On this occasion, the Chief Minister made important announcements for five major crops – urad, mustard, gram, lentils and tur, which will increase the income of farmers and strengthen the agriculture sector.

Bhavantar Yojana on Mustard: Difference payment will be available at lower price than MSP

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that this year the area under mustard in the state has increased by about 28 percent as compared to last year. According to the second advance estimate, the production of mustard has been estimated at 15.71 lakh metric tons.

He said that the objective of the price policy of the government is to provide remunerative prices to the farmers for their produce. At present the average mandi rate of mustard in the month of January is around Rs 6000 per quintal, while the Minimum Support Price (MSP) set by the Central Government is Rs 6200 per quintal.

The state government has decided that mustard will be procured as per the rules of Bhavantar Yojana, so that farmers can get fair price. For this, a formal proposal has been sent to the Central Government. FAQ Under the scheme, if mustard gets a price lower than the MSP, the difference amount will be paid. Registered farmers will be paid as per their eligibility based on their area and average productivity of the state.

₹600 per quintal bonus on urad: boost to pulse production

The Chief Minister said that the government is making continuous efforts to increase the balanced production of pulse crops in Madhya Pradesh and increase the income of farmers. In view of the procurement and marketing challenges arising due to excess production of summer moong crop, the government has decided to give a bonus of Rs 600 per quintal per farmer on the summer crop of urad. This bonus will be given in addition to the minimum support price. The aim of the government is that farmers should adopt the cultivation of urad instead of moong, which will promote crop diversification and maintain market balance.

Procurement of gram and lentils at support price: Registration process underway

He informed that the procurement of gram and lentils is proposed from March 24 to May 30, 2026. For this, registration of farmers is being done from 20 February to 16 March 2026.
