Maruti recently started taking bookings for the new-generation Brezza. This new compact SUV is scheduled to launch on July 23, and ahead of its launch, our dealership sources have now revealed a major change in its powertrains.
New-Gen Maruti Brezza Details Leaked

According to our dealership sources, Maruti will ditch the current 1.5-litre NA petrol engine in the new-generation Brezza and introduce a duo of 1.2-litre petrol engines. They claim an all-new 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder NA petrol engine from the Swift and Dzire will power the new Brezza.
There will also be a CNG powertrain paired with the 1.2-litre NA petrol engine. While major details like power and torque are not yet known, we expect the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine to be more powerful than the 1.5-litre non-turbo mill. In fact, having a 1.2-litre engine will help Maruti save around Rs. 1 to Rs. 1.5 lakh per unit in manufacturing costs through tax savings alone.
Some early spyshots also revealed the Maruti Brezza with a 6-speed MT. This same unit could be paired with the new turbo petrol mill. However, the NA petrol engine could come with a 5-speed MT and an automatic torque converter gearbox.
The 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, NA petrol engine could also pave the way for Maruti’s upcoming series-hybrid setup on the updated Brezza. But this is not guaranteed yet.
What Else?

Our source also claimed that the updated Brezza will get some new feature additions. However, the list of features hasn’t been revealed yet. But we expect features like a panoramic sunroof, a new infotainment unit, and a digital driver’s display to be a part of the package. Another key highlight will be the inclusion of an underbody CNG kit.
Launch & Price Expectation
The updated Maruti Brezza is scheduled to launch on July 23. In terms of pricing, with the new engines and a tax benefit, we expect the new-gen model to be priced between Rs. 8.5 lakh and Rs. 16 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
