The beta version of IRCTC’s new website will be launched on Wednesday night at 9 pm. Users will be able to give feedback using it. Captcha-popups have been removed, seat availability will be visible in all classes and booking steps have been reduced. These suggestions were given by MNIT students.
New Delhi [भारत]July 15 (ANI): The beta version of the new IRCTC website will be launched on Wednesday at 9 pm so that users can experience its new look and give their feedback on its features, the Railway Ministry said in a press release.
The website can be accessed at this link: https://www.irctc.co.in/eticket/. The link of the beta version is also given on the homepage of the existing website.
What are the big changes?
The new website has a clean user interface and simple user experience. IRCTC has made four major improvements in the beta version, which include removing unnecessary captcha, unnecessary pop-ups, flashing graphics and distracting elements. Now seat availability in all classes will be visible simultaneously, the number of steps required for booking has been reduced and re-booking will be easier with saved passenger details.
These reforms were suggested by the students of Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) during their conversation with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.
Students were made part of the design process, providing suggestions on improving the look and feel of the website. Based on the feedback received, the new website is ready for trial. The beta version will help in gathering feedback from users on further improvements, which will be incorporated in future releases to increase customer satisfaction.
New passenger reservation engine will also be integrated
The ministry said that soon, the IRCTC website will also be integrated with the upcoming new passenger reservation engine. Since the Passenger Reservation Engine is also being revamped in parallel, a fully functional new IRCTC portal will be available in a few weeks.
It is the decades-old passenger reservation engine that powers various train booking apps. This required a large amount of work as the system had to remain operational during the upgrade process. The new passenger reservation engine will be launched soon.
The IRCTC website was first launched in 2002 and currently handles around 14.5 lakh tickets per day on an average. (ANI)
