Dr. Vaishali Sharma Told that it is not necessary that the combination of every egg and every sperm is successful. Many times both husband and wife are completely healthy, their hormones, sperm count, ovulation and all other reports are normal, yet fertilization does not occur. Research has indicated that there may be a mismatch between the egg and sperm at the microbiological level, that is, due to lack of biological matching between the two, the process of fertilization cannot be completed.
This reason is not visible in a normal blood test or scan, because it works at a very microscopic level. In such cases, the husband and wife do not understand where the problem lies. Experts believe that this aspect will deepen the understanding of infertility in the future.
The egg itself chooses which sperm to adopt.
According to research, a woman’s egg is not completely inactive. It releases some chemical signals, which are called chemoattractants. These chemicals attract some sperm more and some less, that is, in a way the egg participates in the process of selection.
This selection is not due to any emotional or social reason, but is based entirely on biological basis. If a man’s sperm is unable to coordinate well with those signals, the chances of fertilization may be reduced.
In such cases IVF can be a solution
According to experts, in cases where pregnancy is not possible through natural means, IVF can be an option. In this process, sperm is delivered directly to the egg, thereby reducing natural obstacles.
Doctors believe that this can increase the chances of pregnancy. Therefore, if all the reports are normal, yet results are not found, then IVF can be considered after consulting a specialist.
