New Delhi: India and South Africa will face-off in the T20 World Cup Super Eight clash in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Both the teams have entered into the second stage of the marquee event undefeated with four wins each which signifies their prowess in the ongoing ICC event. After the culmination of the group stage games on Friday, the Super 8 kicks off with a match between New Zealand and Pakistan on Saturday.
Meanwhile on the second day of the event, England and Sri Lanka will play a Super 8 match in the afternoon while the Men in Blue lock horns with the Proteas in the evening match at the Narendra Modi stadium. While India were largely impressive against arch-rivals Pakistan in the group, their outings against the USA, Namibia and Netherlands were not much appreciated.
Defending champions India have their share of concerns ahead of the crucial clash against the runners-up of the marquee event as their batters have not been that good against the spinners. Additionally, lack of all-round contribution is what has hurt India this tournament which they would like to take note of and correct during this stage which will give them a potential place in the semifinals.
South Africa has looked quite impressive this edition and as far as Ahmedabad is concerned, they have played three of their four matches at the venue, which includes the double super over win against Afghanistan. They would want to give it their best shot and take the revenge for the final loss at the last edition.
Telecast & Live Streaming
The live telecast will be available on Star Sports Network TV channels in India while the live streaming of the India vs South Africa T20 World Cup 2026 match will be available on JioHotstar app and website.
Head-to-Head
Both the sides have locked horns 35 times on the shortest format with India clearly holding an upper hand. Out of the total matches, India have won on 21 occasions while South Africa have emerged victorious 13 times. One match has ended without any result.
Pitch and weather report
The Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium offers excellent conditions for batters, allowing them to score freely. The team winning the toss should opt to bat first and put up a big total on the board. Some aid would be for the bowlers as well if they stick to a good line and length.
Meanwhile, the weather forecast in Ahmedabad is great and will see no rain interruption. The teams can expect temperatures hovering around 24-29 degrees Celsius, with humidity predicted to exceed the 40 per cent mark.
