Narendra Modi Uttar Pradesh visit: PM Modi will give two big gifts to Uttar Pradesh on 21 and 22 February. The foundation stone of North India’s first semiconductor unit ‘India Chip’ and the inauguration of Namo Bharat Rapid Rail and Metro in Meerut will give a new impetus to the development of the state.
To give a new direction to the pace of development in Uttar Pradesh, two important projects are going to be started on 21st and 22nd February. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give a big gift of semiconductor manufacturing and modern transportation system to the state in two days. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be present in both the programs. These projects are being considered as milestones in the industrial and infrastructure development of the state.
21 February: Foundation stone of North India’s first semiconductor unit laid
On February 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of North India’s first semiconductor unit “India Chip” through virtual medium. This plant will be established on 48 acres of land in Sector-28 of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YIDA) area. The project is being developed as a joint venture between HCL Group and Foxconn Technology Group. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will be present at the venue.
This will be the country’s first Display Driver Integrated Circuit (DDIC) OSAT facility, where advanced packaging, assembly and testing of chips will be carried out. The project is being set up in collaboration with the Semiconductor Mission of the Government of India and the State Government. It is estimated that this plant can contribute about Rs 45,000 crore annually to the country’s GDP. Also, around 3,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities are likely to be created. Experts believe that this will give Uttar Pradesh a strong identity on the national semiconductor map and give a boost to the electronics manufacturing sector.

22 February: Inauguration of Namo Bharat Rapid Rail and Meerut Metro.
On February 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail and Metro service in Meerut. This project has been prepared at a cost of approximately Rs 12,930 crore. The program will be held at Mohiuddinpur Rally Ground in Meerut, in which Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other dignitaries will be present.
Delhi-Meerut journey in less than an hour
With the launch of Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, the journey from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut can be completed in less than an hour. There will be a total of 15 stations in this corridor and the design speed of the train will be up to 180 kilometers per hour. Trains will be available every 10 minutes, which will directly benefit lakhs of passengers. It is estimated that this will reduce the movement of about one lakh private vehicles every day and reduce carbon emissions.
21 kilometers from Meerut Metro in half an hour
12 stations have been built in the 21 km long metro section from Meerut South to Modipuram. These include Meerut South, Partapur, Rithani, Shatabdi Nagar, Brahmpuri, Meerut Central, Bhainsali, Begumpul, MES Colony, Daurali, Meerut North and Modipuram. The maximum speed of the metro will be 135 kilometers per hour and service will be available every 10 minutes. This is expected to reduce traffic pressure within the city and save time.
Double engine government’s development agenda
The state government claims that both these projects will provide new energy to industrial investment, employment and urban mobility. While the semiconductor plant is a big step towards technological self-reliance, the rapid rail and metro will boost regional connectivity and economic activities. According to experts, if the projects are conducted as per the scheduled time and quality standards, Uttar Pradesh can create a new identity on the industrial and transportation map of the country. These gifts received in two days can have a long-term impact on the state’s economy, employment and infrastructure.
