If you are also troubled by repeatedly filling ‘captcha’ and slowness of the website while booking train tickets, then this news is for you. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is going to launch the new ‘beta version’ of its website at 9 pm tonight. After this new update, not only will the speed of ticket booking increase, but passengers will also get a clean and very easy interface. Now you will be able to confirm your seat without any unnecessary captcha or pop-up. This new version is being introduced to know the experience of the users, to show them a new look and to take their opinion.

The style of ticket booking will change from 9 pm

From 9 o’clock tonight, the way of booking railway tickets is going to change completely. Passengers can directly visit the link https://www.irctc.co.in/eticket/ to avail this new facility. Apart from this, the link of this new beta version has also been made available on the homepage of the existing IRCTC website. At present, it has been started as a trial, so that common citizens can see the new look of the website and give their feedback after using its features. Only on the basis of this feedback it will be given a permanent shape in future.

4 major changes in the booking process

The new website has been specially designed to save the time of the common man. Mainly four major technical improvements have been made in this.

  1. The first and most important change is that now you will not have to fill any unnecessary ‘captcha’ while booking tickets. Distracting flashing graphics or sudden pop-up advertisements will no longer be visible on the screen.
  2. The second major improvement is regarding the availability of seats. Now passengers will clearly see the status of seats of all classes (like sleeper, AC) at one place.
  3. The third change is of ‘Fast Checkout’. The long process of booking tickets has been shortened, so that your ticket can be booked in very few steps.
  4. The fourth and very convenient feature is ‘Repeat Booking’, in which the passenger’s information will be safe so that there is no hassle of filling the form again the next time you travel.

1.5 lakh tickets will be booked in one minute

The biggest feature of the new portal is its excellent speed and server capacity. Earlier, only 32,000 tickets could be booked per minute on the old website, but after the new upgrade, this capacity has been increased to 1.5 lakh tickets per minute. The system of the new website has been made so powerful that it can easily handle more than 40 lakh PNR and seat inquiries every minute without hanging or crashing.

Freedom to choose favorite seat

Many modern features have been added in this new update to improve the user experience. Through this, passengers will be able to easily compare fares for different dates, which will help them book tickets as per their convenience and budget. While booking tickets, passengers will get a clear option to choose the berth or seat of their choice. With this, now this website can be used not only in English and Hindi, but also in many other regional languages of India.

Picture of railway changed due to students’ suggestion

This big and necessary change in the IRCTC website has been possible thanks to the students of Malviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT). During a conversation with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, these students gave some very useful suggestions to overcome the shortcomings of the website. The Railway Ministry took these suggestions seriously and as a result this new user-friendly interface has been prepared for the common people.

Daily load of fourteen and a half lakh tickets

IRCTC website was launched for the first time in the history of Indian Railways in the year 2002. From then till today, this website has become the main means of travel for crores of people. Talking about the current situation, this platform handles the huge task of booking more than 14.5 lakh tickets on an average every day. Due to such a large amount of traffic, passengers often had to face many problems on the website. After the arrival of the new and modern version, it is expected that the system will work faster and smoothly, making the ticket booking experience of every passenger better than before.
