Indore Royal Family Dispute: A royal wedding ended in divorce, which led to a Rolls Royce car of Nehru’s era. It will be surprising to hear, but it is true. Katyayani, the granddaughter of the Sardar of the Scindia royal family of Gwalior, and Arjun Singh Kak of the Indore royal family was married. But now the Supreme Court has canceled this marriage. The court has ordered that according to the agreement between the two, Arjun Singh Kak will give compensation of Rs 2.25 crore to Katyayani. The Scindia royal family of Tarjirao, the British daughter Katyayani and the retired colonel Anil Kak of the Indore royal family and Arjun Kak, son of Mangesh Kak, were married in April 2018 in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. Given the wealth and status of the British and Kak families, this marriage was seen as the union of two powerful royal houses. However, within a year, their relationship rift.
In November 2019, Arjun Kak lodged an FIR at the University Police Station, Gwalior, accusing him of making fake wedding certificate. He said in the FIR that the Municipal Corporation of Gwalior illegally issued a marriage certificate, which falsely claimed that in Rishikesh, there was also a marriage in Gwalior on the day of marriage. Arjun’s FIR was heard in the Madhya Pradesh High Court and in March 2023, the High Court termed it as a fake certificate and canceled it, saying that it was issued by an unfit officer. The High Court’s decision proved Arjun’s claim that fake documents were used in the case.
Subsequently, in March 2021, Katyayani British lodged a complaint at the Women’s Police Station in Gwalior under the Dowry Prohibition Act. He alleged that Arjun and his family had demanded a Rolls Royce luxury car and a flat in Mumbai. However, the High Court later noticed that Katyayani had filed the complaint in response to the fraud case filed earlier by Arjun. A few months after the marriage, Katyayani applied for divorce. But the court noted that after two years a dowry complaint was lodged, which raises questions on its purpose. It is said that the Rolls Royce Car that is mentioned in Katyayani’s complaint was called by the first Prime Minister of India in 1951 for the Queen of Baroda.
According to him, Rolls Royce Car H.J. There was a rare hand -made model by Mulliner & Co., which was ordered by Jawaharlal Nehru for Maharani Chimna Bai Sahib Gaikwad and gifted to her family. She alleged that her father -in -law and husband showed their attraction towards the car and hoped to get it as a gift, and when the demand was not met, she was stopped from entering the in -laws’ house and insulted.
But husband Arjun denied all these allegations. He said that on April 20, 2018, the marriage in Rishikesh was a symbolic ritual performed for astrological reasons on the advice of his family’s guru. As a couple, they never lived together, marriage never completed, and the registration of marriage found in Gwalior is fake. He alleged that the wife and her relatives cheated in making the wedding certificate. Arjun said that he never demanded Rolls Royce or a Mumbai flat. During the previous conversation, Arjun agreed to give a living allowance of Rs 1.5 lakh per month. However, Katyayani emphasized a permanent agreement of Rs 36 crore with property stake. The conversation broke due to such a big difference in expectations.
But now the matter has finally been resolved by the consent of both in the Supreme Court, in which Arjun will end the matter forever by paying Rs 2.25 crore to Katyayani. After years of long trial, the two sides finally agreed to the agreement. On August 29, 2025, the Supreme Court finalized the terms of the agreement, in which Arjun was ordered to pay a compensation of Rs 2.25 crore to Katyayani, which is to be paid by November 2025. This decision brought relief to both families. Eventually the Supreme Court ended the dispute, which had turned into several legal matters including fake documents, dowry harassment and divorce applications.
