Myopia is an eye disease in which near vision becomes weak. The main cause of this disease was considered to be excessive screen time, but now a new research has revealed that the cause could be not only the mobile or computer screen, but also doing any work in low light. Like using phone or anything else in low light can also be the reason. Scientists from SUNY College of Optometry have done research regarding this. Published in SAIL Reports.
Research has shown that if you read a mobile, laptop or book in low light, then the retina of the eyes gets less light. This causes more pressure on the eyes. Which increases the risk of myopia. According to Jose Manuel regarding the study, myopia is a rapidly increasing problem across the world. It is clear from our research that a major reason for the occurrence of this disease is working in low light. In such a situation, people are advised to use their phone or laptop only in adequate light.
Myopia disease is increasing rapidly in the world
In America and Europe, about 50% of the youth are suffering from myopia, while in some countries of East Asia this figure has reached 90%. Experts say that bad lifestyle and wrong eating habits are also a major reason for the occurrence of this disease. The matter of concern in case of myopia is that if this disease is not controlled on time, it can also take a serious form. This disease is seen more in children also.
