Where’s my bag? BJP MP Parveen Khandelwal hits out at IndiGo over missing luggage

New Delhi: A baggage mix-up has sparked a political row after BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal accused IndiGo of losing his luggage during a flight from New Delhi to Belagavi on Friday.

Taking to X, BJP MP revealed the whole thing. He said he was travelling on flight 6E-5237 and reached Belagavi as scheduled, but his baggage did not arrive. In a post on X, he described the experience as “shameful” and said there was no clarity on where his suitcase had gone. The MP claimed the situation caused him “mental agony” and forced him to immediately purchase clothes and essential personal items.

He also said that the missing baggage contained valuable documents, making the matter more serious. He called out IndiGo for negligence and poor baggage handling and said such lapses are unacceptable.

‘No clarity on its whereabouts’

In his post, the Chandni Chowk MP questioned the airline’s operational standards. He pointed out that if a sitting Member of Parliament could face such an issue then the condition of ordinary passengers could be worse. The remark quickly drew attention online with several users sharing similar experiences of baggage delays and losses.

Khandelwal directly questioned IndiGo’s CEO Pieter Elbers, seeking an “immediate explanation” over the missing luggage. He also flagged the issue to Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu, urging intervention.

Airline yet to issue detailed response

IndiGo had not released a detailed public statement on the matter. Airlines typically trace delayed baggage through tracking systems but passengers often complain about poor communication during the process.

The incident has once again put the spotlight on IndiGo and questioned the baggage management and customer service standards in Indian aviation. For now, the focus remains on whether the airline locates the MP’s missing bag and how quickly the issue is resolved.
