Kavitha to launch new party in May, may contest from Siddipet

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruti President and former BRS MLC K Kavitha has announced on Thursday that her new political party will be launched formally in the first week of May.

She prefers to contest from Siddipet, the seat that is held by her cousin and rival, T Harish Rao and earlier held by her father and BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Kavitha to contest from Siddipet or Bodhan:

Speaking to the media, she said that her new party would be rooted firmly in Telangana and would continuously question the policies of the ruling Congress government and the actions of the BRS and BJP. She stated that she may contest from either Siddipet or Bodhan. She also predicted that Telangana BJP would slowly diminish from the state.

Referring to the electoral strategy, she noted that her party would consider contesting ZPTC and MPTC polls in alliance with another party. She said that she was hopeful the Election Commission would allot a symbol to her party by the time GHMC elections come around. She noted that her party would contest GHMC elections on their own.

Kavitha also stated that several leaders from BRS were keen on joining her new party.

When asked about criticism of viability of her new party, she asked why the failure of male political leaders are not discussed. “No one talks about leaders such as Chiranjeevi or Devender Goud or scrutinise their failures. Women are constantly undermined,” she said.
