The release of director Inder Kumar’s film Dhamaal has completed 18 years. The movie was released on 7 September 2007. There was no lead actress in this and there was no villain, yet the film showed fiercely at the box office and earned it. It was a super hit.

The movie, directed by Indra Kumar and produced by Ashok Thakeria, featured Sanjay Dutt, Ritesh Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Ashish Chaudhary and Javed Jaffrey in the lead roles. He was accompanied by Asrani, Sanjay Mishra, Murali Sharma, Vijay Raj, Manoj Pahwa, Tiku Talsania and Prem Chopra in supporting roles.

Inder Kumar’s movie Stanley Cramer had the first installment of the inspired Dhamaal series from It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963). This film is of 4 friends, who kill hands and feet to earn money. Then suddenly he meets a don, which before dying, tells that he has hidden Rs 10 crore under a large ‘W’ at St. Sebastian Garden in Goa. After this, everyone goes out to find these money and reach the garden. This is the biggest suspense here.

– Director Inder Kumar Yun is famous for making action, drama and romantic films, but he also started working in comedy zons with Dhamaal.

– It is said that Sanjay Dutt was in jail when this film was being made. When he came out on parole, he completed shooting for his share. Not only this, he was in jail even during the movie release.
– The makers of the film Dhamaal had first signed Tusshar Kapoor, Sohail Khan and Aftab Shivdasini for the movie. However, the three later left the film for some reason.

Sequel made of film Dhamaal
After the film Dhamaal became superhit, Inder Kumar made its sequel as double Dhamaal, which was released in 2011. It featured Sanjay Dutt, Ritesh Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Ashish Chaudhary, Javed Jaffrey, Kangana Ranot and Mallika Sherawat in the lead roles. Its budget was 29 crores and it did a business of 70.54 crores at the box office. This was followed by the third part in Total Dhal in 2019. It included Ajay Devgan, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Ritesh Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey, Boman Irani, Sanjay Mishra, Johnny Lever. The film with a budget of 100 crores earned 228.27 crores. Now its fourth part is coming, whose shooting has been completed. It will be released in theaters on the occasion of Eid of 2026.
