Hacker group World Leaks has claimed that it has thousands of sensitive documents related to the plant. It is claimed to include important information like blueprints, supplier information, meeting records, inspection reports and insurance documents. However, the authenticity of these documents has not been independently confirmed.

According to the report, hacker group World Leaks has claimed that it has data of about 8.58 lakh files related to Anil Ambani’s Reliance Group. Of these, about 19,000 documents are said to be the most sensitive. It is claimed that these documents are related to the ongoing construction work at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, where Reliance Group is working as a contractor.
According to Reuters report, Reliance Group has admitted that there has been a partial breach of its data. The company says that the data in question was hosted on the servers of third-party data center service provider Yotta. The company has informed the Indian government about the incident, but did not clarify what type of data was affected.

Why did security experts express concern?
According to Nicholas Roth, senior director of the Nuclear Threat Initiative, an organization that works on nuclear security issues, if such sensitive data is indeed leaked, it could be a matter of serious security concern. He says that such incidents also raise questions about how prepared companies associated with critical infrastructure are to deal with cyber threats. Reuters reported that it had reviewed some of the leaked documents dating from 2016 to 2025, but the agency has not independently verified the authenticity of these documents.
Who is World Leaks and why is he in the news?
World Leaks is an alleged cyber criminal group, which is known for stealing data of companies and demanding ransom. It is alleged that if the ransom is not paid, the group releases the data publicly or on the dark web.
According to reports, even before this this group has targeted many big companies. Construction work on Unit-3 and Unit-4 of the Kudankulam plant is underway and is expected to be commissioned by 2027. In such a situation, the claim of this alleged data leak has raised new concerns regarding cyber security and security arrangements of important national projects.
