Guwahati (Assam) [भारत]July 15 (ANI): As the FIFA World Cup frenzy grips the world, the Assam government has taken steps to ensure that football fans can enjoy the semi-finals and finals without any inconvenience.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday announced extension of the opening timings of restaurants in Guwahati and other districts of the state so that football lovers can watch and enjoy the FIFA World Cup semi-final and final matches without any hassle. The Chief Minister of Assam has authorized the Kamrup (Metro) district administration in Guwahati to extend the operating timings of restaurants till 3:30 am on July 15, 16, 19 and 20 to facilitate fans in watching the match. He has also authorized the district administrations of other districts in the state to allow similar extensions.

“Football connects people, and we want our sports lovers to enjoy the semi-finals and finals of the FIFA World Cup without any inconvenience. I have authorized the district administration in Guwahati to extend the operating hours of restaurants till 3:30 am on July 15, 16, 19 and 20 to facilitate fans in watching the matches. I have also authorized the district administrations of other districts to allow similar extensions,” the Assam Chief Minister wrote on Twitter. Fans got relief in Karnataka also
Earlier on Tuesday, Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar had also said that food service timings for hotels and restaurants in the city have been extended from 1.00 am to 3.30 am on July 14, 15 and 19, so that fans can watch the FIFA World Cup matches late at night. This decision was taken after a request from the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI). (ANI)
