The Kerala Story 2 controversy: Vipul Shah slams Pinarayi Vijayan says ‘criticism won’t affect film’

New Delhi: A fresh political storm has erupted around The Kerala Story 2, even before the film’s release. After strong remarks from Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, producer Vipul Shah has now hit back, calling the criticism “motivated” and insisting that the film speaks for victims.

In an exclusive reaction to News9, Shah defended his project and urged parents and young women to watch the movie before forming opinions. The exchange has once again placed the controversial film at the centre of a heated public debate.

Vipul Shah hits back at Kerala CM’s criticism

The controversy began after Pinarayi Vijayan criticised The Kerala Story 2, alleging that it propagates communal hatred and serves as “propaganda of Sangh Parivar.” His remarks added fuel to an already sensitive discussion surrounding the film’s subject.

Reacting to the Chief Minister’s statement, producer Vipul Shah strongly defended the film. Speaking in an exclusive byte to News9 Live, Shah said the criticism would not affect him or the film’s release.

“Yes, I know. Sadly, the state chief minister is not worried about the victims, and he is indulging in politics,” Shah said. “He should come down very hard on these criminals and protect the girls. We have put out the video of 32,000, yet he didn’t take any action against the criminals. It’s very, very, very sad. We have to protect our girls.”

When asked how he plans to tackle criticism that may come in the way of the film, Shah dismissed the concerns. “The criticism is motivated, so it doesn’t bother me. I want all parents and girls to see through that and see the film. It will surely open their eyes,” he said.

The debate highlights the deep divide over the film’s narrative and intent. While critics argue it could create social tension, the makers maintain that the film aims to highlight real issues and raise awareness.

As the political and public reactions continue to grow, The Kerala Story 2 remains firmly in the spotlight — not just as a film release, but as part of a larger national conversation.
