Hyderabad: A heartbreaking news has come from Hyderabad. Here on Wednesday, a man brutally murdered his three-month pregnant ex-wife. It is being told that the accused was very angry with his ex-wife’s second marriage and that is why he committed this crime. The incident took place in Vanasthalipuram area of Hyderabad. Sunita, 29, a software professional, was attacked around noon in her fourth-floor apartment in Green City Colony. It is alleged that her ex-husband Devarakonda Mahesh, also a software professional, had barged into the flat with two knives, a petrol bottle and even a chain-saw.
Entered the room and attacked the woman with a knife.
There were many problems in their marriage, after which they got divorced in 2024. Before the divorce, he also lived in Canada for some time. Sunita had also filed a complaint of domestic violence against Mahesh, after which the authorities issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him. According to the police, Mahesh went straight to the room where Sunita was working from home. He closed the door from inside. Vanasthalipuram Inspector T. Mahesh said, “Mahesh had a heated argument with Sunita and within a few minutes, he attacked Sunita with knives. He stabbed Sunita several times on various parts of her body, including her head.”

The inspector said, hearing the woman’s screams, other family members ran towards her room. He saw Sunita lying on the floor soaked in blood. By then the accused had locked himself in the bathroom. At the time of the attack, Sunita’s mother-in-law was drying clothes on the terrace, while her brother-in-law was in another room. Police investigation revealed that Sunita and Mahesh were married in 2022 and had soon moved to Canada. But their relationship was full of tension from the beginning. In 2024, Sunita filed for divorce and returned to India. This year he got married for the second time and started his new life in Vanasthalipuram. But Mahesh reportedly wanted revenge.
l. B. City DCP B. Anuradha said, “Last year Mahesh returned to India after the death of his mother.” He said that LOC was issued in Sunita’s name in an old case of domestic violence lodged by her, hence she was stopped by the police at the airport itself. His passport was also confiscated.
The DCP further said, “He was disappointed as he could not go back to Canada because of LOC. He also had a grudge against Sunita’s second marriage and wanted to take revenge.” Police had to break the bathroom door to arrest the accused as he had locked himself inside after the attack. A case of murder has been registered against Mahesh.
