With the help of AI, the health sector is also getting huge benefits. With its help, such technologies are now being developed which are helping in identifying the disease in less time. In this sequence, such a technology has been developed. Due to which respiratory disease can be detected just by coughing. AI platform Swasa has been prepared. Who can identify respiratory diseases by listening to the sound of cough. This technology has also got the green signal from AIIMS. What is this app and how does it work? Know about this.
This AI based application can be run on mobile phones. This is used in the phone and one has to cough two-three times in front of the phone. This app records the sound of cough and detects it with AI algorithm and prepares a report in about 8 minutes telling about the respiratory disease.
Trial conducted on 460 patients
AIIMS Dr Harshal Ramesh Salve at the Center for Community Medicine, New Delhi, says that this app was compared with the gold standard spirometry test, in which we found it to be quite effective. To test it, it was tested on about 460 patients in AIIMS. Research found that this app can easily tell about asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at the initial level. Only by coughing can we know which respiratory disease the patient is suffering from and at what level it is.
Dr. Ramesh says that X-ray and CT scan are done to identify respiratory diseases. But with the help of this app, early and moderate stage disease will be easily detected. This technology will be helpful in those areas where testing technology like spirometry is not available.
Can TB also be tested with this app?
Dr. Ramesh says that not at present, but with its help there is hope of identifying TB in future. Work is being done for that level. If it is successful, it will be a major breakthrough in TB detection.
