What did PM Modi say in AI Impact Summit?
From the platform of AI Impact Summit, the Prime Minister said that India’s ‘MANAV Vision’ will become a strong link for human welfare in the AI world of the 21st century. He said that AI should be made such that it does not limit humans to just data. Technology should be to help humans, not humans becoming an instrument of technology.
What does MANAV Vision mean?
M (Moral & Ethical): AI should be based on moral values. Right and wrong should be kept in mind while taking decisions.
A (Accountable Governance): There should be clear rules for AI, monitoring should be strong and the system should be transparent.
N (National Sovereignty): Whose data, its rights. That means the data of the country and its citizens should remain safe.
A (Accessible & Inclusive): AI should be for everyone. It should not become a weapon of some companies, but should help the common people.
V (Valid & Legitimate): The use of AI should be legal and reliable, whatever system is built, it can be tested.
It is necessary to democratize AI- PM Modi
The Prime Minister said that AI has to be democratized. He said that if AI remains only in the hands of big companies or a few countries, then inequality may increase. Especially for the Global South i.e. developing countries, AI can become an opportunity, if it is taken forward in the right direction.
Why did PM Modi give the example of GPS?
Prime Minister linked AI to GPS. He said, ‘Just like GPS shows the way, but the final decision is ours as to which direction to go, similarly AI can help us, but the control should remain in the hands of humans.’ The direction we give to AI today will decide its future.
Will AI eliminate jobs?
There is concern among people about AI and jobs. On this the Prime Minister said that this is the era of working with humans and machines. He gave the example of Internet. When the Internet came, no one had any idea how many new jobs it would create. Same thing will happen with AI also. Future jobs are not decided yet. It will depend on how we adopt AI and in what direction we move forward.
