IT-BPO jobs to end by 2030? Tech billionaire’s big claim in AI summit
Vinod Khosla, founder of Sun Microsystems and owner of Khosla Ventures, said at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held in New Delhi that by 20250, the way of working in the world may completely change and people may no longer need traditional jobs. According to him, AI is progressing so fast that the structure of employment will change in the coming decades. Khosla believes that the impact of AI will not be limited to the tech sector only. Rather, it will affect almost every industry. Especially in countries like India, where IT service and BPO industries have been the backbone of economic growth, its impact could be more profound.
Threat to IT and BPO by 2030?
Khosla has claimed that by 2030 the IT service and BPO industry may almost end in its current form. According to him, the traditional outsourcing model will not be able to survive due to AI based automation and new technology. He warned that people are not yet taking the pace of change seriously, even though technological change is happening very fast.
He also said that many white collar jobs will also be affected due to AI. Especially those professionals who have been working in the same manner for 15-20 years and are slow in adopting new technologies may have to face difficulties in the future. If they do not update themselves with time, their demand in the tech industry may decrease. Khosla’s message was clear – instead of being afraid of AI, it is important to embrace it and learn new skills, because the future will be completely technology-driven.

Emphasis on use of AI in health sector also
Not only this, he also emphasized on the use of AI in the health sector. Khosla told that in the year 2008, he had thought that it is not possible to provide good health care to all the people in a country like India just by increasing the number of doctors. He says that even if they had a lot of money and time, it would be difficult to make India’s doctor-patient ratio the same as America’s. Therefore, he concluded that AI doctors can be a practical solution. According to him, if primary health care has to be provided to 70 crore people daily, then with the help of AI this work can be done at relatively low cost, which will be a small part of the total health budget of the country.
