A photographer who came to find a house on rent turned out to be a thief and stole gold jewelery worth lakhs of rupees. This incident has created a sensation in the city. Whitefield Police of Bengaluru has solved the case and arrested the accused. The arrested accused has been identified as Kiran, a resident of Whitefield. Kiran was a photographer by profession, but he suffered huge losses during Covid. Because of this, he had closed his photo studio and was earning his living by doing photography at small events with the help of a camera.
Made up my mind to steal after seeing the key
Kiran was looking for a house on rent in Nagondanahalli area of Whitefield police station. Meanwhile, he saw a ‘To Let’ board and went inside the building. There his eyes fell on the house key kept in the shoe rack. Kiran picked up the key, opened the door and entered the house. After this, he stole 348 grams of gold jewelery worth about Rs 55 lakh kept there and fled.
Clue found from CCTV
In this case, house owner Jagdish had lodged a complaint at Whitefield Police Station. Jagdish is a software engineer by profession. His son comes home early from school, so for his convenience he used to keep the house keys in the shoe rack. This carelessness became the reason for theft. After registering the case, the police scanned the surrounding CCTV footage, in which the actions of the accused Kiran were captured. With the help of technology, the police soon traced the accused.

After the theft, Kiran started feeling remorse. So he went to Malai Mahadeshwar Hills. There he shaved his head and made a vow to God. When he was returning from Malai Mahadeshwar Hills, the police caught him. At present, the accused is in custody and further investigation is underway in the theft case. This incident once again reminds us how dangerous it can be to keep house keys in open places. Police have warned people not to keep house keys in shoe racks, pots or other places where they can be easily found.
