More than 96 lakh MSME units in Uttar Pradesh have been connected to the digital platform, technological upgradation and new policies. Production, competition and employment have increased through ODOP, RAMP and Udyam Sarathi App. 19% more funds are proposed in Budget 2026-27.
Lucknow. The state government has taken rapid initiatives at many levels to connect the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in Uttar Pradesh with technology. Work is being done to make more than 96 lakh MSME units competitive and market-oriented through digital platforms, training programmes, technological upgradation and policy reforms. These efforts have increased production capacity and given new impetus to employment generation.
The combination of digital infrastructure, simple policies and financial support has laid a strong foundation to establish Uttar Pradesh as a leading industrial hub. The state government has proposed Rs 3,822 crore for MSME sector schemes in Budget 2026-27, which is 19 percent more than the year 2025-26.
Digital dimension to ODOP scheme, traditional products related to e-commerce
Online platform has been developed for marketing development, toolkit distribution and training under One District One Product (ODOP) scheme. Through this, technology based skill training is being given to artisans of SC, ST and OBC category. Due to connecting traditional products with e-commerce and digital marketing, the reach of local goods has now increased to national and international markets. This has provided new opportunities to artisans and small entrepreneurs.
Technological upgradation and competitive edge through MSME Champions Portal
Under the MSME Championship Initiative (Champions Portal), selected units are being provided technical assistance for adoption of modern machinery, quality improvement and use of digital tools. The objective of this initiative is to reduce production costs and strengthen the competitiveness of the units. Lakhs of units are benefiting from digital upgradation and marketing support, enabling them to make their mark in the larger market.
Digital support from Udyam Sarathi App and RAMP Scheme
Digital registration, scheme information and operational guidance are available on a single platform through the Udyam Sarathi App, launched on January 24, 2021. This gives entrepreneurs easier and faster access to government schemes and incentives. Financial and technical support is being provided under the RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance) scheme implemented in the state, which is a World Bank supported central initiative. This has given impetus to the expansion and modernization of the units.
MSME Policy 2022, plug and play model and investment promotion
The processes have been simplified through the MSME policy implemented from the year 2022. Facility to start operations in 72 hours is being provided under plug and play model. Arrangements like increase in credit flow and insurance coverage up to Rs 5 lakh have facilitated risk management for entrepreneurs. These reforms have further strengthened the investment environment in the state.
Employment generation and positive impact on rural economy
Technology-based reforms have had a direct impact on employment generation. The MSME sector is already the basis of livelihood of crores of people and digital transformation has added new opportunities to it. Due to e-commerce and connectivity with online supply chains, rural and semi-urban units have got access to larger markets, thereby increasing their income and economic activities.
