Large companies like Torrent Power and Adani Power have now started working in the state for energy production. Torrent Power Company will invest 22 thousand crores and Adani Power Company will invest 10 thousand 500 crores. This will provide employment to 17,000 people.
Torrent Power will invest 22 thousand crores in the state for 1600 MW thermal project. Torrent Power Limited has been given a “Letter of Award (LOA)” for setting up a coal -based power plant of 1,600 MW from MP Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL). This is the largest investment in the power sector by the Ahmedabad-based group. The project will be based on the Ultra-Supreme Critical Technique of Greenfield 2×800 MW and will be developed under the design, construction, financing, ownership and operation (DBFOO) model. Torrent will supply the full capacity of this plant to MPPMCL at the rate of Rs 5.829 per unit under the 25 -year power purchase agreement power purchases agreement. The project is to be operational within 72 months of signing PPA. About 70% of the project cost will be completed through loans.
Coal for this plant will be allotted by MPPMCL under the SHAKTI policy of the Central Government. The project will be based on ultra-supercratical technology, which will provide better efficiency and low emissions than traditional thermal units. This investment of Torrent Power will play an important role in achieving an 80 GW of additional coal -based capacity target by the Central Government by 2032. This will add the required baseload capacity to stabilize the grid. During the construction of this project, 10 thousand direct and indirect employment will be created.
Adani Power will develop electricity to Madhya Pradesh by developing 800 MW thermal power plant at a cost of Rs 10 thousand 500 crore in Madhya Pradesh. A new thermal power plant with a capacity of 800 MW will be set up under this project. The plant will be located in Anuppur district. The plant will be operational in 54 months. This step will further strengthen the energy security of the state. As India’s economy is growing rapidly, the country’s demand for electricity, especially base load power, is continuously increasing. The Anuppur plant will play an important role in providing electricity at reliable, affordable and competitive rates. The supply of coal for this plant has been allotted to Madhya Pradesh under the ‘Shakti Yojana’ of the Government of India. In the project construction phase, 7,000 people will get direct and indirect employment and after starting, about one thousand permanent employees will be employed.
