Bengaluru parents forget child in cab; police rescue brings relief to family

Bengaluru: A city-based couple left their four-year-old child inside a cab after returning from a trip on Saturday. Soon after realising about their missing child, the panicked couple dialled the Emergency helpline 112 and sought police help in getting back their kid.

As per the media reports, the local police reached the spot in Hennur area of the city within minutes and managed to track the cab. The driver was contacted and asked to check the child sleeping in the rear seat. Police asked the driver not to wake up the child and drive straight to the given address. Within an hour the child was handed over to the parents at their residence in Ponnappa Layout.

Several media reports said that family was returning after visiting the ISKCON Temple earlier in the evening. While returning, the child fell asleep in the rear seat of the cab booked by his mother

Police counseled parents and asked them to be careful in future

The police also counseled the family members and advised them to exercise caution to prevent such incidents in the future.

“Namma-112 personnel immediately swung into action and conveyed the information to ASI Manjappa Koppal and Head Constable Satish, who were on duty in Hoysala-51. They reached the spot within just 2 minutes, tracked the vehicle’s live location, immediately contacted the driver, and directed him to bring the car back to the apartment. After confirming that the child sleeping inside the car was safe, the child was handed over to the parents,” reads a statement from the police.

Social media slams parents for their ‘carelessness’

The incident drew mixed reaction on social media, while some users appreciated police quick action, others slammed parents for their casual approach in handling the child.
