MS Dhoni celebrates 44th birthday with JSCA staff, close friends – WATCH

New Delhi: Legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni turned 44 on Monday (July 7) and celebrated the occasion with his close friends and the staff of Jharkhand State Cricket Association in his hometown, Ranchi.

A video clip of Dhoni’s cake-cutting ceremony is going viral on social media. The video shows Dhoni donning a sleeveless T-shirt and cutting the cake before sharing pieces of cake with friends and staff of JSCA.

While Dhoni, staying true to his humble nature, cut the cake in a low-key ceremony, fans in Vijayawada celebrated the occasion in a grand fashion by putting up a towering cutout. Fans turned out in massive numbers on the streets, waving Chennai Super Kings flags and holding posters of the legendary cricketer, who has become a household name in the region since the IPL began in 2008.

Dhoni’s legacy remains unmatched

It’s been five years since Dhoni retired from international cricket. However, he still plays for CSK in IPL, with his most recent outing coming in the 2025 edition. With his fitness in question in the last two editions, it will be interesting to see if the iconic cricketer plays in IPL 2026.

Dhoni is the most successful captain, alongside Rohit Sharma, in the history of IPL. The Jharkhand cricketer led the Yellow Army to five titles, the most recent of which came in 2023.

In international cricket, too, Dhoni’s legacy remains unmatched. He is the only captain to win the T20 World Cup, the ODI World Cup and the Champions Trophy. Dhoni’s personal stats are also nothing short of remarkable. In 538 international matches, Dhoni scored 17,266 runs and recorded 829 dismissals.

He scored 10,773 runs at an outstanding average of 50.57, including 10 centuries and 73 fifties in ODI cricket and, remarkably, reached the milestone of 10,000 runs while largely batting in the lower middle order.

In Test cricket, he holds the record for being the only Indian captain to have whitewashed Australia in a Border-Gavaskar Trophy series twice.

Dhoni’s impact on Indian cricket is much bigger than his incredible stats and numbers, for he remains one of the few cricketers to give the fans some unforgettable moments with his contribution.
