Story of Anant Chaturdashi fast in hindi
According to the prevailing story, Lord Krishna arrives to meet him one day when the Pandavas were enjoying exile. Here Dharmaraja Yudhishthira asked Lord Krishna a solution to relieve his crises. Then Shri Krishna asked him to fast on Anant Chaturdashi and also narrated the story of it.
Sri Krishna told the Pandavas that ‘At one time there was a religious Brahmin named Sumant. His daughter’s name was Sushila. On being married, Rishi Sumant got his daughter Sushila married to a sage named Kaundilya. When the appropriate time comes, Kaundilya Rishi came to make his wife off.
When Kaundilya sage was returning with his wife, his wife Sushila saw some sages worshiping a deity on the way. On asking, those sages told that they are worshiping Lord Anant. Sushila also took the fast of Lord Anant and tied the thread of worship in her hand.
When Kaundilya sage saw that infinite sutra in the hands of his wife, he asked about him. Sushila told him the whole thing truth. Hearing the whole thing, the sage became angry and broke the formula tied in his hand and consumed it in the fire. By doing this, Lord Anant was disrespectful.
By doing this, the happiness and wealth of Kaundilya sage was destroyed. Then one day Sushila told him that ‘Lord Anant was disrespectful by you, that is why our happiness and wealth have been destroyed.’ Hearing this, the sage realized his mistake and went to the forest to repent.
The sage Kaundilya wandered off the one-one and started searching for Lord Anant. One day the sage found an old Brahmin in the forest. He told the sage ‘I am infinite. You have to suffer these troubles because of insulting me. Now I am happy with you because of your remorse. You should follow the eternal fast for fourteen years. This will remove all your problems.
Rishi Kaundilya did the same, which will remove his troubles and live happily with his wife. After listening to this story, the Pandavas also performed an infinite fast, due to which they got their lost kingdom back and they started ruling Hastinapur happily.
