New Delhi: Azmatullah Omarzai’s all-round effort was the cornerstone of Afghanistan’s first victory at the T20 World Cup as they defeated United Arab Emirates by five wickets on Monday.
At the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Omarzai claimed 4/15 as the Afghans restricted UAE to 160 for 9 and then produced an unbeaten 40 in the Group D match.
Ibrahim Zadran was Afghanistan’s 41-ball 53 as Afghanistan kept their hopes alive as they won with four balls to spare after narrow defeats in their first two games.
