Haryana: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Mokalwas village of Gurugram. The body of a missing Class 11 student was recovered from a pond near the local crematorium on February 14, police said. It is suspected that he has committed suicide. The girl has been identified as a student of Maitri School. She was last seen leaving home in school uniform late on the night of 11 February. When she did not return till morning, her family informed the police and a missing case was registered. Nearby CCTV footage showed her walking away from her house, following which a massive search operation was launched.
Written in suicide note – I should not be found anywhere else…
During a search of his room on Friday, officials found a hand-written diary containing a suicide note. In this he had apologized to his parents and told the way to a pond near the cremation ground. He had written that he should not be found anywhere else. Based on this information, police and family members reached the spot and started efforts to find his body. It took several hours to extract water from the approximately 15 feet deep pond. Eventually, his body was found stuck in the mud and handed over to the family after postmortem.
Big question- Why did the promising student take this step?
The girl’s father works in a court library and relatives described her as a promising student. Initial police investigation suggests that he died due to drowning, which appears to be a case of suicide. A senior police officer said that investigation is going on as to why he took such a drastic step.
This tragic incident has raised concerns about teen mental health and the pressure placed on young students. People in the community are demanding a better emotional support system for teenagers. Officials are investigating all aspects of the case to connect the links leading up to the incident.
