The horror powerhouse has surpassed Tom Cruise starrer Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning opening day box office collection of Rs 17.50 crore.
Meanwhile, IMDB reported that The Conjuring: Last Rites has racked up $8.5M in previews, becoming the biggest franchise gross for a horror IP in previews by surpassing Ralph Fiennes’ 28 Years Later, which nabbed $5.8M earlier this year (via THR). While the movie has opened to middling critical reception, this hasn’t hindered its legs at the box office.
