The state government has taken the initiative to make the entire process transparent from seed production to distribution through Sathi portal. Information about seeds will be available through QR code. This will prevent fake seeds and quality seeds will be easily available to the farmers.

Lucknow. Double Engine The government is making continuous efforts to ensure availability of high quality seeds to the farmers and to make the seed distribution system transparent. In this direction, the state government has requested the seed traders to update complete information on the Sathi portal from April. Through this portal, the entire process from seed production to reaching the farmer will be tracked. This will prevent fake and adulterated seeds and will help in providing right quality seeds to the farmers.

Training campaign: Center and Maharashtra team provided guidance

In Uttar Pradesh, the Agriculture Department launched a massive training campaign to make the Sathi portal a success. The Government of India team and officials of Maharashtra Agriculture Department also participated in the training organized at the Directorate of Agriculture. The two-day training was inaugurated by Agriculture Director Dr. Pankaj Tripathi.

In this training, Senior Technical Assistant (CEED) Dr. Sonu Kumar Choudhary, Senior Director (IT), NIC officers Archana, Avinash Vijaykumar Pedgaonkar, Joint Director Niladri Bihari Mohanty and his team members Komit and Sudeep gave training.

Dr. Preeti Sawairam, Deputy Director (Agriculture), Maharashtra, shared information about the success of the portal in her state and the benefits to farmers.

Master Trainer Model: Information will reach every district

Additional Agriculture Director (Seeds and Fields) Anil Kumar Pathak said that representatives of seed producing institutions, farmer producer organizations (FPOs) and seed companies are being made master trainers. These trainers will train wholesalers and retailers in their respective districts so that the new system can be implemented properly.

About 70 percent of the vendors have been registered on the portal. The remaining 30 percent vendors have been requested to complete the registration in the next 15 days. In case of any problem, the District Agriculture Officer can be contacted.

Sathi Portal: Complete information about seeds at one click

Sathi (Seed Authentication, Traceability and Holistic Inventory) portal has been developed by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Its objective is to bring transparency in seed production, certification and distribution and to provide better quality seeds to the farmers. By scanning the QR code on the seed packet, farmers will be able to get information about the source, producing organization, certification and quality of the seed.

Master trainers prepared in two phases

The training program was conducted in two phases. On the first day, training was given to seed producing institutions, FPOs and seed companies. On the second day, training was given to wholesalers and retailers of the districts. All these participants have been prepared as master trainers, who will disseminate information about the Saathi portal to other dealers and distributors in their districts.
