Ishan Kishan’s blistering 77 powers India to highest-ever total against Pakistan in T20 World Cup

New Delhi: India rode on Ishan Kishan’s fantastic 77-run knock to post a strong total of 175/6 in their marquee clash against arch-rivals Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday, February 15. India recorded their highest-ever total against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup history, surpassing their previous best of 160/6 in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Despite losing his opening partner, Abhishek Sharma, early on a duck in the very first over, Kishan looked unfazed under pressure as he continued his red-hot form against Pakistan. The left-hander took his time to settle down before launching an onslaught against the Pakistani bowlers in the Powerplay.

Kishan raced to his fifty off just 27 balls to record the second-fastest fifty by an Indian batter against Pakistan in T20Is. He accelerated further after completing his fifty and finished with 77 off just 40 balls, which was laced with 10 fours and three sixes.

The left-hander combined with Tilak Varma (25) to share a crucial 77-run stand for the second wicket, lifting India from 1-1, to 88/2 in just 8.4 overs. Kishan’s 77 places him third on the list of highest individual scores by an Indian against Pakistan in T20Is, only behind former skipper Virat Kohli.
