New Delhi: Ishan Kishan surpassed Yuvraj Singh in an elite list with the second-fastest fifty by an Indian against Pakistan in T20Is. Kishan achieved the feat in India’s group-stage clash against Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday. Kishan smashed a half-century off just 27 balls and finished with a brilliant 77 to help India dominate the proceedings after Abhishek Sharma’s early departure.
India lost Abhishek on a duck in the very first over of the game, but Kishan, who has been in the form of his life, continued his purple patch against the Men in Green. The left-hander took his time to settle down and get a hang of the conditions at the R Premadasa Stadium before taking the Pakistan bowlers to the cleaners in the Powerplay.
Kishan raced to his fifty off just 27 balls and helped India get 52 runs from the Powerplay after a sluggish start. It was the second-fastest fifty by an Indian against Pakistan in T20Is as Kishan surpassed Yuvraj in the elite list of Indian batters with the fastest half-centuries against Pakistan in the shortest format. Abhishek holds the record for the fastest fifty by an Indian against Pakistan with his 24-ball fifty in the Asia Cup last year.
Yuvraj held the second spot with his 29-ball fifty against Pakistan in a T20I in Ahmedabad in 2012. Kishan went past the former India all-rounder with his 27-ball half-century against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday.
