American senator claims that India will not increase oil purchases from Russia. This is part of US pressure on Russia regarding the Ukraine war. India has not yet given any official statement on this issue.

munich: Amidst the criticism that India is moving closer to America and distancing itself from Russia, another revelation has increased the concern of the Modi government. India, which has remained silent on issues like trade deal with America, has not yet clarified its stand on oil trade with Russia. But, America’s revelations suggest that India will withdraw from buying Russian oil.

US Senator Marco Rubio has made it clear that America has received assurance from India that it will not buy more oil from Russia than the current level. It is believed that this effort to stop India from buying Russian oil is a part of American pressure on Russia regarding the Ukraine war.

Describing the efforts being made to put economic pressure on Russia in collaboration with European countries, he mentioned the talks with India. Rubio said that in talks with India, a promise was received not to buy any more oil from Russia. He also said that the US has imposed further sanctions on Russian oil and Europe is also cooperating in this.

At the same time, Rubio also admitted that he is not sure how serious Russia is about ending the Ukraine-Russia war. When asked whether Russia was just biding time for peace talks, he replied that Moscow’s real intentions were not clear.
