2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza spotted with 6-speed manual

New Delhi: The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza has been spotted testing again, and the latest images suggest that the upcoming update could bring some important mechanical changes. Earlier spy shots had already shown a new CNG setup placed under the body. Now, fresh pictures appear to show the petrol version, and the focus this time is on what looks like a new 6-speed manual gearbox.

If confirmed, this would be the first time a six-speed manual is seen in the current Maruti line-up in India. The test vehicle images, shared by Harshit Makkar Vlogs, indicate that the gearbox may get an extra gear compared to the usual five-speed manuals used across Maruti models today. With the Brezza facelift, the company might finally introduce it. An extra gear usually helps with smoother highway driving and better engine comfort at higher speeds.

Possible turbo petrol engine

There are also signs that the Brezza could receive a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. Maruti already uses this engine in the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Maruti Suzuki Dzire, though both models currently come with a 5-speed manual gearbox. If this turbo engine is offered in the Brezza along with a 6-speed manual, it would mark a notable change for the SUV.

At present, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. A smaller turbo engine could help it stay within the lower tax bracket for sub-1200cc cars, while still offering stronger performance than a regular non-turbo unit. However, the company has not officially confirmed these details yet.

Interior and CNG updates

Inside the cabin, the test model seems to feature a larger infotainment screen. The current Brezza gets a nine-inch display, but the updated version may move to a bigger unit. Some added features could also be part of the update, though final details are still unknown.

For the CNG variant, Maruti is expected to use its new underbody S-CNG layout. In this the CNG is placed below the floor, which gives more usable boot space compared to the current version. However, the spare wheel may not be offered in this configuration.

With several near-production test cars already seen, the 2026 Brezza update could arrive in the coming months. If the new gearbox and turbo engine are introduced, this could be one of the more noticeable upgrades for the SUV in recent years.
