In Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister MK Stalin has sent Rs 5000 each to the accounts of 1.31 crore women. This help given under the ‘Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai’ scheme is being considered as a political ploy to defeat the opposition.
Chennai: Crores of women in Tamil Nadu had not even woken up in the morning when Rs 5000 each came into their accounts. The political world is calling this masterstroke of Chief Minister MK Stalin a ‘surgical strike’, which foiled the opposition’s efforts to stop government schemes before the assembly elections. Under the ‘Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai’ scheme, this amount was deposited in the accounts of 1.31 crore women at around 6 am on Friday. Each woman received Rs 5,000, which included installments of Rs 3,000 for February, March and April and a special summer package of Rs 2,000.
The government took this swift step because it had received news that as soon as the election code of conduct is implemented, there may be attempts to stop this scheme through the court. Stalin clearly said on social media, “When they were trying to create obstacles, the Dravidian model government went a step ahead.” The special thing is that the official announcement was made only after the money reached the accounts. Apart from this, the Chief Minister also announced that if the DMK comes to power again, the monthly assistance of Rs 1,000 will be increased to Rs 2,000.
Big discussion in Tamil Nadu
This move has sparked a major debate in Tamil Nadu politics. DMK supporters are describing it as if Stalin had hit a ‘sixer’ even before the opposition woke up. Political experts believe that this step will help in reducing the anti-government wave and retaining women voters. AIADMK alleged that this money is being given due to fear of elections, but it is certain that this will become an important issue in the upcoming assembly elections. In the coming days, AIADMK is also entering the fray with its scheme of giving Rs 2,000 in the accounts of women, due to which the politics of Tamil Nadu has become more heated.
